SHEAR-JASHUB (‘a remnant shall return,’ Isa_7:3).—A symbolical name given to a son of Isaiah to signify the return of the remnant to God after the punishment at the hands of the Assyrians. See Isa_8:18, Isa_10:20-21. and cf. Isa_7:14, Isa_8:1-4, and art. Isaiah, p. 387b.
