SWALLOW.—1. dĕôr (Psa_84:3, Pro_26:2). The allusion to the nesting of this bird in the sanctuary and its swift (unalighting) flight fits the swallow. 2. ‘âgûr (Isa_38:14, Jer_8:7). See Crane. 3. sûs, sîs, should be tr. [Note: translate or translation.] as in RV [Note: Revised Version.] (Isa_38:14, Jer_8:7), ‘swallow’ instead of ‘crane’ (AV [Note: Authorized Version.] ).
