ASHURBANIPAL.—Son and successor of Esarhaddon on the throne of Assyria, b.c. 668–626. He is usually identified with Asnappar, Ezr_4:10. He included Manasseh of Judah among his tributaries, and kept an Assyrian garrison at Gezer. See Assyria, Osnappar.
