ZAANAN.—A place mentioned in Mic_1:11, where there is a characteristic word-play: ‘The inhabitress of Za‘ãn ân went (yâzĕ) not out’ (for fear of the enemy). Za‘anân is generally considered to be the same as Zenan of Jos_15:37, an unidentified town in the Shephçlah.
