Conder notes this (Tentworks ii, 335) as the modern el-Hosn, but he gives no further account of it, except to remark (ibid. p. 113) that the rocks on the north side of the pass, glaring in the strong sun of an Eastern midday, give a good explanation of the name (“shining”). SEE MICHMASI. On the Ordnance Map el-Hosn is laid down on the north brink of Wady Tuwenit, two miles from its junction with Wady Farah.
