a German theologian and scholar, son of Johann Benedikt, Sr., was born at Leipsic, June 17,1647. He studied at his native place and Wittenberg. Like his brother, Johann Benedikt, Jr., he opposed Spener. In 1674 he was called as third court-preacher to Dresden, was in 1680 superintendent, in 1692 first court-preacher, and died Aug. 31, 1707.
