(Hebrews Kenaänah´, ëְּðִòֲðָä , femn. forr of Canaan), the name of two men. Furst (Hebr. Worterb. s.v.) suggests that the prevalence of such names as this, and Tarsish and Cush among the Benjamites, indicates special connection by intermarriage with the earlier race; the straits to which this tribe was reduced by its civil war (Judges 21) may have driven its members to special alliances with their Phoenician neighbors.

1. (Sept. ×áíáíÜí v. r. ×áíáíÜ ). The fourth named of the seven " sons" of Bilhan, son of Jediael, of the tribe of Benjamin, a leading warrior apparently in the time of David (1Ch_7:10). B.C. cir. 1020.

2. (Sept. ×áíáÜí v. r. ×áíáíÜ and ×áíááíÜ ). The father of the false prophet Zedekiah, which latter encouraged Ahab against Micaiah (1Ki_22:11; 1Ki_22:24; 2Ch_18:10; 2Ch_18:23). B.C. ante 896.
