used in the A.V. only in its old Latin, sense of suitable or becoming, as a rendering of éָùָׁø , yashar' (Jeremiah xl, 4, 5, “right,” as often elsewhere), çֹ÷ , chok (Pro_30:8, an allotted “portion,” as sometimes elsewhere), êáèῆêïí (Rom_1:28, “fit,” as in Act_22:22), ἀíῆêïí (Eph_5:4; Phm_1:8, “fit,” as in Col_3:18); but åὕêáéñïò (Mar_6:21), åὐêáßñùò (Mar_14:11), åὐêáéñÝù (1Co_16:12), or simply êáéñüò (Acts' 24:25), refer to opportuneness of time or season. Similarly in the Apocrypha ( êáèήêù , Sir_10:23; 1Ma_12:11; 2Ma_4:19; 2Ma_11:36), ἐðéôήäåéïò , (1Ma_4:46; 1Ma_14:34) ἐðßêáéñïò (2Ma_4:32; 2Ma_14:22), simply êáéñüò (Sir_39:17), or mere construction (2Ma_10:18).
