(1) it is often identical with the Walkiires;

(2) it is used of goddesses of destiny, good or evil;

(3) it has reference specially to Freya, who was thus honored by calling her the goddess, and sacrifice was made to her in the middle of winter by the Dyssablot, so called from this service.
