a Spanish saint, lived at Saragossa in 304. She was persecuted as a Christian under the emperors Diocletian and Maximin Hercules, and suffered, as reported by Prudentius, most fearful tortures. Nevertheless Engratia "recovered with the time," and in spite of her wounds died at an advanced age. Her relics are preserved at Saragossa, and she is commemorated April 16. See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog.
