occurs as a translation of ÷ֶöֶ (Ke'tseph, something broken): in Hos_10:7, “As for Samaria, her king is cut off as the foam upon the water,” after the Vulg. spuma. The Sept. doubtless gives the correct sense, öñýãáíïí , a dry twig or splinter. Horsley (Comment. in loc.) renders “bubble.”

“Foam” is the true meaning of ἀöñüò , froth (Luk_9:39; with its derivatives in Mar_9:18; Mar_9:20; Jud_1:13).
