1. (Sept. É᾿åöïííή , also É᾿åöïíῆ and É᾿åöïííῆ .) The father of Caleb (q.v.), the faithful fellow explorer of Canaan with Joshua, in which paternal connection alone his name occurs (Num_13:6; Num_14:6; Num_14:30; Num_14:38; Num_26:65; Num_32:12; Num_34:19; Deu_1:36; Jos_14:6; Jos_14:13-14; Jos_15:13; Jos_21:12; 1Ch_4:15; 1Ch_6:56). B.C. 1698.
2. (Sept. É᾿åöéíÜ .) One of the sons of Jether or Ithran, of the descendants of Asher (1Ch_7:38). B.C. prob. ante 1017.
