(Heb. Yoäch', éåֹàָç , Jehovah is his brother, i.e. helper), the name of four men.

1. (Sept. É᾿ùáÜ v.r. ῾ÉùÜè ,Vulg. Joaha.) The third son of Obed-edom (q.v.), appointed with his brethren to take charge of the sacred furniture (1Ch_26:4). B.C. 1014.

2. (Sept. É᾿ùÜ÷ v.r. É᾿ùÜâ , É᾿ùÜò , É᾿ùáÜ ; but in 2 Chronicles first occurrence É᾿ùÜ v.r. É᾿ùäáÜä , second É᾿ùá÷Ü ; Vulg. Joah.) A Levite of the family of Gershom, the son of Zimmah and father of Iddo (1Ch_6:21); apparently the same elsewhere called ETHAN, and father of Adaiah (1Ch_6:42). He is probably the same as the person who, with his son Eden, aided Hezekiah in his efforts at a religious reformation (2Ch_29:12). B.C. 726.

3. (Sept. É᾿ùÜò , in Isaiah É᾿ùÜ÷ , Vulg. Joahe.) Son of Asaph and historiographer of king Hezekiah, who was one of the messengers that received the insulting message of Rabshakeh (2Ki_18:18; 2Ki_18:26; 2Ki_18:37; Isa_36:3; Isa_36:11; Isa_36:22). B.C. 712.

4. (Sept. É᾿ïõÜ÷ v.r. É᾿ùÜò , Vulg. Joha; Josephus É᾿ùáôήò , Ant. 10, 4, 1.) Son of Joahaz and historiographer of king Josiah; he was one of the officers that superintended the repairs of the Temple (2Ch_34:8). B.C. 623.
