(Heb. Yoyadats', éåéָãָò , a contraction of JEHOIADA, found only in Nehemiah, who invariably uses it), the name of two men.

1. (Sept. É᾿ùåéäÜ v.r. É᾿ùéäÜ , Vulg. Jojada, A. Vers. “Jehoiada.”) Son of Paseah, and apparently one of the chief priests; in conjunction with Meshullam he repaired the Old Gate, SEE JERUSALEM, with its appurtenances, after the captivity (Neh_3:6). B.C. 446.

2. (Sept. É᾿ùáäÜ v.r. É᾿ùéáäÜ , É᾿ùäáÝ .) Son and successor of Eliashib in the high priesthood, himself succeeded by his son Jonathan (Neh_12:10-11; Neh_12:22); another of his sons having married a daughter of Sanballat, on which account he was banished (Neh_13:28). B.C. post 446. Josephus (Ant. 11, 7, 1) Graecizes the name as Judas ( É᾿ïýäáò ). SEE HIGH PRIEST.
