less correct forms of Anglicizing the word ANATHOTHITE. SEE ANATHOTH. The variations in the orthography of the name, both in Hebrew and the A.V., should be noticed.
1. The city: In 1 Kings 2, 26, and Jer_32:9, it is òֲðָúֹú , and similarly in 2Sa_23:27, with the article; Anathoth.
2. The citizens: Anethothite, 2Sa_23:27; Anetothite, 1Ch_27:12; Antothite, 1Ch_11:28; 1Ch_12:3. “Jeremiah of Anathoth,” Jer_29:27, should be “Jeremiah the Anathothite.”
