( âῆìá , properly a step, hence a rostrum or stage for speakers; as a "throne," e.g. Herod's in the theater at Caesarea, Act_12:21), an elevated seat or tribunal (in Jam_2:6, the term is êñéôήñéïí , a court of justice), especially of the Roman governor (Mat_27:19; Joh_19:13; Act_18:12; Act_18:16-17; Act_25:6; Act_25:10; Act_25:17); hence of the final bar of God (Rom_14:10; 2Co_5:10).
