a German divine and poet, was born at Grevismuhlen, in Mecklenburg, Feb. 1, 1758: became rector at Wolgast in 1785; pastor at Altenkirchen in 1792, and in 1808 professor of history at the university in Greifswald; later also professor of theology, and pastor at St. James's Church in that place, and died Oct. 26,1818.
