stands in only two passages of the Bible in its narrow sense of an alphabetical character ( ãñÜììá , in the plural, Luk_23:38; and prob. Gal_6:11, ðçëßêïéò ãñÜììáóé ; A. V. “how large a letter,” rather in what a bold hand); elsewhere it is used (for ñֵôֶø , a book; ãñáììá , either sing. or plur.; but more definitely for the later Heb. àַâֶּøֶú [Chald. àâְּøָà , ðַùְׁúְּåָï : [Chald. id. also ôַּúְâָּí ; ἐðéóôïëή ) in the sense of an epistle (q.v.).
