(from ἄíèñùðïò , a man, and ðÜèïò , an affection), a class of believers differing somewhat from the Anthropomorphites (q.v.), by ascribing to the Divine Being, not the possession of a human body, but the same limitations and defects which are found cleaving to the human spirit. There is a true, in opposition to a false, anthropopathism-an ascription of human affections to God which is thoroughly scriptural, provided always that they be understood in accordance with the nature and majesty of God, and so as not to imply the slightest imperfection in the infinitely perfect Jehovah.
