a rabbi of great distinction among Jewish scholars of the 14th century, and one of the representatives of truly German synagogal teachers, flourished about 1360. He lived in very troublesome times, and because the literary remains of this period were scanty, it was called the ãåֹø éָúåֹí , “ the destitute generation.” To the prominent literati of that period, who left some monuments of their learning, belongs Menahem of Merseburg, who wrote annotations on Rabbinical decisions, entitled ðַîּåּ÷ַéí , reprinted in Jak.
