(from íõóôÜæåéí or íõêôÜæåéí , to nasp) is the name which was given in the early Church to those who repudiated the night hours of prayer on the ground that as the day is divinely ordained for work, so the night is equally ordained for sleep and rest (Isidore, De Haeres. lxiv; Paulus, De Haeres. lii; Ebrard, In Bibl. Max. 24:1577). They are also spoken of under the name of Dornzitantes by St. Jerome in his treatise against Vigilantius.
