Lieut. Conder suggests (Memoirs to the Ordnance Survey, 2:49) that the original name may have been Sadid ø for ã ), as in the Sept., and in that case the place may be represented by the modern Tell Shadud, three and a half miles south-west of Nazareth, consisting of "a good-sized artificial mound, with fine springs beneath on the south" (ibid. page 70).
