( çֲæֵä äִúְּðåּôָä ; Sept. óôçèýíéïí ἀöùñßóìáôïò or ôῆò ἐðéèÝìáôïò ; A.V. in Exo_29:27, "breast of the wave-offering") was the breast of the victim offered in sacrifice, a ram (Exo_29:27; Num_6:20), at the consecration of a priest or the purification of a Nazarite after his vow; or of any other animal in thank-offerings (Lev_7:34; Lev_10:14 sq.); or of the first-born-offering (Num_18:18). It was so called because waved by the priest (Exo_29:27; Num_6:20), and belonged to him (Exo_29:27; Lev_7:34), to be eaten by the members of his family who were in a state of ceremonial purity (10:14).
