is the rendering of the A.V. at Psalm 1:11; Psa_80:13 [elsewhere "abundance," Isa_66:11], of æַéæ , ziz, a poetical word for any moving creature of the field. Another Heb. term, chayah ( çִéָּä , Sept. èçñßïí , æῶïí , èήñ , ôåôñÜðïõò , êôῆíïò , ἑñðåôüí , èçñéÜëùôïò , âñùôüò ; Vulg.fera, aninzantia, animal), also rendered "beast," "wild beast," is the feminine of the adjective çִé , "living," used to denote any animal. It is, however, very frequently used specially of "wild beast," when the meaning is often more filly expressed by the addition of the word äִָֹùּׁãֶä , has-sadeh (wild beast) "of the field" (Exo_23:11; Lev_26:22; Deu_7:22; Hos_2:14; Hos_13:8; Jer_12:9, etc.). Similar is the use of the Chaldee çֵéåָà , cheyvahf (Dan_4:7). SEE BEAST.
