(Hebrews Baana', áִּòֲðָà , prob. for áֶּïàּòֲðָà ], son of affliction), the name of three or four men.

1. (Sept. ÂáíÜ .) Son of Ahilud, one of Solomon's twelve purveyors; his district comprised Taanach, Megiddo, and all Bethshean, with the adjacent region (1Ki_4:12). B.C. 1012.

2. (Sept. Âááíᾶ .) Son of Hushai, another of Solomon's purveyors, having Asher and Bealoth (1Ki_4:16, where, however, the name is incorrectly Anglicized “Baanah”). B.C. 1012.

3. (Sept. ÂááíÜ .) Father of Zadok, which latter repaired a portion of the walls of Jerusalem on the return from Babylon, between the fish-gate and the oldgate (Neh_3:4). B.C. 446.

4. ( ÂááíÜ .) One of those who returned from Babylon with Zerubbabel (1Es_5:8); the BAANAH SEE BAANAH (q.v.) of the Hebrews text
