(Hebrews Ba'al Chanan', áִּòִì çָðָï lord of grace, or Baal is gracious), the name of two men.

1. (Sept. Âáëëáåíώí and Âáëáåííώí v. r. Âáëëåíώí and Âáëáåííώñ .) An early king of Edom, son of Achbor, successor of Saul, and succeeded by Hadar (Gen_36:38-39; 1Ch_1:49-50). B.C. prob. ante 1619.

2. (Sept. ÂáëëáíÜí v. r. ÂáëëáíÜ .) A Gederite, royal overseer of “the olive-trees and sycamore-trees in the low plains” under David (1Ch_27:28). B.C. 1014. From his name we may conjecture that he was of Canaanitish extraction.
