an infant (“parvus, nec olim lacte depulsus”) — menitoned by Prudentius (Hymnx, Ðåñὶ óôåöáíùí ), Eusebius Gallicanus, the author of Homily 48 in the works of St. Augustine, and othersto whom St. Romanus of Ceesarea, martyred at Antioch, and Asclepiades, the prefect, his judge, referred the question concerning the truth of the Christian religion. Baralus, having declared Christ to be the true God, was forthwith put to the torture by Asclepiades, and martyred with Romanus. The story has but small authority. See Ruinart.
