a celebrated Portuguese theologian and jurisconsult in the latter part of the 16th century, was born at Viana, in the diocese of Braga. He was first professor of law at Coimbra, and afterwards royal chancellor. In 1595 he published his Commentaria ad Interpretationemr Tituli Digestorum, Soluto Matrinzonio, etc. (2 vols. foil.).
