1. A fortress (or, according to the Targum, a village) near Shechem (Jdg_9:20); apparently the same with the citadel (
îִâְãָּì
, tower) of the place (Jdg_9:46-49). SEE SHECHEM.
2. A castle or fortification of Jerusalem, where King Jehoash was slain (2Ki_12:20, where it is defined as being situated “on the descent to Sillo,” q.v.); probably in the quarter of the same name. SEE JERUSALEM.
