ACHIM ( Ἀ÷åßì ).—An ancestor of Joseph, according to the genealogy of our Lord in St. Matthew’s Gospel (Mat_1:14). The name may be a shortened form of Jehoiachim, or it may be for Ahiam (cf. 1Ch_11:35) or Jachin (cf. Gen_46:10).
