This Chapter Verse Commentaries:
12. ὁ δοκῶν ἑστάναι. A warning against the over-confidence too common among the Corinthians. See chapter 1 throughout; ch. 1Co 3:18, 1Co 4:8. It is not sufficient to have been admitted into the Christian covenant; we need watchfulness, in order to use our privileges aright. Cf. Rom 11:20.
