This Chapter Verse Commentaries:
5. ἐν τοῖς πλείοσιν. The point aimed at is, that in spite of their high privileges and great opportunities, the majority of them was destroyed. Cf. Heb 3:16. Joshua and Caleb only, Num 14:38, were permitted to enter the promised land. See also Num 26:64-65.
κατεστρώθησαν. Compare our strewn. The expression is graphic and forcible.
