This Chapter Verse Commentaries:

15. γάρ gives the reason for τέκνα.

παιδαγωγούς. The παιδαγωγός (see Bishop Lightfoot on Gal 3:24) was originally (1) employed to escort the boy to school, and thence (2) was ‘entrusted with his moral supervision.’

ἀλλ' οὐ πολλοὺς πατέρας. We have here an interesting example of the fact that the spirit rather than the letter of Christ’s commands is to be observed, and that one passage of Scripture is not to be strained so as to contradict another. ‘Call no man your father on earth,’ says Christ (Mat 23:9); that is, as explained by the present passage, in such a spirit as to forget Him from whom all being proceeds.

ἐγώ. Although the pronoun is emphatic, I begat you, the Apostle does not forget that it is ‘in Christ Jesus.’ Cf. ch. 1Co 3:5-9.
