This Chapter Verse Commentaries:
7. θέλω δέ. The rec. text has γάρ, which makes the passage far clearer, and was probably substituted for that reason. We must render ‘but I wish.’

ἕκαστος ἴδιον ἔχει χάρισμα. Cf. Mat 19:11, and Epictetus, Enchir. c. 33 μὴ μέντοι ἐπαχθὴς γίνου τοῖς χρωμένοις, μηδὲ ἐλεγκτικός, μηδὲ πολλαχοῦ τό, ὅτι αὐτῷ οὐ χρῆ, παράφερε. For χάρισμα see 1Co 1:7, 1Co 12:4.
