This Chapter Verse Commentaries:
5. Rec. text (and Tregelles) insert τὸν before θεὸν with אcAD2KL (cp. 1Pe 3:5); om. א*CGP, followed by Tischendorf (cp. ch. 1Ti 4:10). Lachmann and Westcott and Hort place it in square brackets. For θεὸν א*D2* have κύριον, and it is possible that, after all, ἐπὶ κύριον may be the true reading. See note in loc.
