This Chapter Verse Commentaries:
9. βλεπόντων αὐτῶν. The Ascension took place while the Eleven beheld, for they were to be witnesses of that event to the world as well as of the life, death, and resurrection. That the Eleven alone saw Christ go into heaven is told us, Mar 16:14. In the Gospel (Luk 24:51), we are told that Christ was parted from them ‘while He blessed them.’
