This Chapter Verse Commentaries:

φωτίσαι. The Gospel has an illuminating power ‘bringing life and immortality to light’ (2Ti 1:10) and piercing the gloom in which our hearts are shrouded (2Co 4:4-6). Here it is the Divine ordering of the universe that at last stands revealed.

ἡ οἰκονομία τοῦ μνστηρίου. In its widest sense, as perhaps in Eph 1:10. No longer the special office committed to St Paul (Eph 3:2).

τοῦ ἀποκεκρυμμένου. Cf. on Eph 3:5.

ἀπὸ τῶν αἰώνων. Cf. Col 1:26; Luk 1:70; and χρόνοις αἰωνίοις, Rom 16:25.

ἐν τῷ θεῷ. Cf. Col 3:3. For the thought cf. Mar 13:32.

τῷ τὰ πάντα κτίσαντι. Cf. Eph 1:11, Eph 2:10.
