This Chapter Verse Commentaries:
11. πᾶς μὲν ἱερεύς DEKL. The reading πᾶς μὲν ἀρχιερεύς is supported by AC and is possibly right, as ἱερεὺς may have been a correction to avoid the apparent error involved in the καθʼ ἡμέραν, and perhaps οἱ ἱερεῖς would have been a more natural and accurate expression (as Bleek says) than πᾶς ἱερεύς, which in its literal sense was not true.
