This Chapter Verse Commentaries:
28. λάθρα. Because of the presence of Christ’s enemies (Joh 11:19; Joh 11:31). Λάθρα with εἰποῦσα, rather than with ἐφώνησε (Mat 1:19; Mat 2:7; Act 16:37).
ὁ διδάσκαλος. Joh 1:39, Joh 13:13-14, Joh 20:16, Joh 3:10; Mar 14:14. Their friendship is based on the relation between teacher and disciple. She avoids using His name for fear of being overheard.
