This Chapter Verse Commentaries:

21. Φιλίππῳ] Their coming to S. Philip was the result either (1) of accident; or (2) of previous acquaintance, to which the mention of his home seems to point; or (3) of his Greek name, which might attract them. see on Joh 1:45, Joh 6:5, Joh 14:8. In Κύριε they shew their respect for the disciple of such a Master (comp. Joh 4:11; Joh 4:15; Joh 4:19). Their desire to ‘come and see’ for themselves (θέλομεν ἰδεῖν) would at once win the sympathy of the practical Philip. see on Joh 1:46 and Joh 14:8.
