This Chapter Verse Commentaries:
3. εἰδώς. ‘Because He knew,’ as in Joh 13:1. For πάντα ἔδωκεν see on Joh 3:35 and comp. Eph 1:22; Php 2:9-11. Note the order; and that it was from God He came forth, and unto God He is going. “He came forth from God without leaving Him; and He goeth to God without deserting us” (S. Bernard).
