This Chapter Verse Commentaries:

21. εἶπεν οὖν. He said therefore: because now they were able to receive it. Their alarm was dispelled and they knew that He was the Lord. He repeats His message of ‘Peace.’ For ἀπέσταλκεν and πέμπω see on Joh 1:33. Christ’s mission is henceforth to be carried on by His disciples. He is ὁ ἀπόστολος (Heb 3:1), even as they are ἀπόστολοι. The close correspondence between the two missions is shewn by καθώς, even as (Joh 17:18). Note the present tense, I am sending; their mission has already begun (Joh 17:9); and the first part of it was to be the proclamation of the truth just brought home to themselves—the Resurrection (Act 1:22; Act 2:32; Act 4:2; Act 4:33, &c.).
