This Chapter Verse Commentaries:
13, 14. He leaves her question unanswered, like that of Nicodemus, and passes on to develope the metaphor rather than explain it, contrasting the literal with the figurative sense. Comp. Joh 3:6, Joh 6:35; Joh 6:48-58, Joh 10:7-9. Note the change from πᾶς ὁ πίνων, every one that drinketh (habitually) to ὃς ἂν πίῃ, whosoever hath drunk (once for all).
