This Chapter Verse Commentaries:
42. οὗτος. Contemptuous; this fellow. ‘We know all about His parentage; there is nothing supernatural about His origin.’ Nothing can be inferred from this as to Joseph’s being still alive (see on Joh 2:1). Ἡμεῖς is emphatic; ‘we know it for ourselves.’ This is in favour of the speakers being of Galilee rather than from Jerusalem.
