This Chapter Verse Commentaries:

21. ὅταν ὁ ἰσχυρὸς καθωπλισμένος φυλάσσῃ τὴν ἑαυτοῦ αὐλήν. ‘The strong’ is Satan, Mat 12:29. Αὐλὴ means ‘premises’ or ‘homestead,’ Mat 26:3. The same metaphor is used of the Christian opposing Satan, as here of Satan opposing Christ, Eph 6:13. The world is here Satan’s court-yard (Joh 12:31; Joh 16:11) and men his possessions (2Ti 2:26).

καθωπλισμένος. ‘Fully armed, in his panoply’ (Luk 11:22).
