This Chapter Verse Commentaries:

27. τοὺς ἐχθρούς μου τούτους. They had once been ‘citizens,’ Luk 19:14.

κατασφάξατε. ‘Slaughter them.’ Archelaus had similarly put some of his political opponents to death. This, too, corresponds to ulterior truths—the ruin and massacre of the unbelieving Jews. Comp. 1Co 15:25.

ἔμπροσθέν μου. ‘Before my eyes.’ The ‘nobleman’ resembles the tyrant Archelaus, who like Caligula may have delighted in the personal inspection of the executions which he ordered.
