This Chapter Verse Commentaries:
48. πάντες οἱ … ὄχλοι. ‘All the crowds.’
τύπτοντες τὰ στήθη ὑπέστρεφον. ‘Returned, smiting their breasts.’ It must be remembered that the People had not acted spontaneously in this matter, but had been goaded on by the Priests.
