This Chapter Verse Commentaries:
9. οὐδὲν ἀπεκρίνατο. Isa 53:7. A murderer of the Prophets, who was living in open and flagrant incest, and who had no higher motive than mean curiosity, deserved no answer. Our Lord used of Antipas the only purely contemptuous word which He is ever recorded to have uttered (Luk 13:32). “Devant cet être, composé monstrueux de sanglante légèreté et de sombre superstition il se renferma dans un silence que les accusations mêmes du Sanhédrin (Luk 23:10) ne purent le porter à rompre.” Godet.
