18. πολλὰ μὲν οὖν καὶ ἕτερα. Literally, ‘Many things too, different from these;’ of which some are recorded by St John alone (Luk 1:29; Luk 1:34, Luk 3:27-36).
εὐηγγελίζετο. Literally, ‘he was preaching the Good Tidings.’ With the phrase εὐηγγελίζετο τὸν λαόν compare Act 8:25; Act 8:40; Act 16:10. The verb has two accusatives (one being the cognate accusative) in Act 13:22. It is found with the dative in Luk 4:18; Rom 1:15, &c. The accusative indicates the direction of the verbal action, and is involved in the notion of teaching.
