6. The text is confused; read ἔτι ἕνα εἶχεν υἱόν, ἀγαπητόν· ἀπέστειλεν αὐτὸν ἔσχατον πρὸς αὐτούς ([2700][2701][2702][2703]); other witnesses support portions of this reading. In Mar 12:6; Mar 12:9; Mar 12:20; Mar 12:23; Mar 12:27; Mar 12:37, the οὖν is almost certainly an interpolation. Perhaps Mar 10:9, Mar 13:35, Mar 15:12 are the only places in Mk in which οὖν is original; Mar 11:31 is doubtful. Scribes often inserted particles for the sake of smoothness, as γάρ in Mar 12:36.

[2701] Codex Vaticanus. 4th cent., but perhaps a little later than א. In the Vatican Library almost since its foundation by Pope Nicolas V., and one of its greatest treasures. The whole Gospel, ending at Mar 16:8. Photographic facsimile, 1889.
[2702] Codex Regius. 8th cent. An important witness. At Paris. Contains Mar 1:1 to Mar 10:15; Mar 10:30 to Mar 15:1; Mar 15:20 to Mar 16:20, but the shorter ending is inserted between Mar 16:8 and Mar 16:9, showing that the scribe preferred it to the longer one.
[2703] Codex Sangallensis. 9th or 10th cent. Contains the Gospels nearly complete, with an interlinear Latin translation. The text of Mark is specially good, agreeing often with CL. At St Gall.
